Engineering Approach
FEEC developed the full process design basis — heat and material balances across all operating cases, with equipment sizing for the pre-combustion amine package, cryogenic air separation unit, liquid-oxygen storage and handling, hydrogen pressure swing adsorption, and CO₂ compression train for permanent geological storage.
With an in-situ oil feedstock, the process route captures CO₂ at the syngas stage — upstream of final hydrogen purification — giving a carbon-neutral hydrogen product consistent with the target carbon intensity across the full operating envelope. Surface facilities PFDs, heat and material balance, and equipment RFQs were issued to support vendor bid evaluation and the procurement strategy.
A Class 5 capital cost estimate was structured for project sanctioning and lender review, with cost breakdown aligned to the client's investor-facing financial model and an engineering basis sufficient for FEED contractor selection.
